Roots

Where do you come from? What do you look back to? What will you always remember? After a lot of years have passed. Let us go back. To the times. To the dreams. To the careless laughter. To bruised knees. To the sound of waves. And memories. Roots are important. They define you. That’s why its important to go back to them From time to time. *** आओ, उसे याद … Continue reading “Roots”

Day 27# Food For The Soul

A friend has recently started a Tumblr Blog about favourite music (It’s a great read and listen – should check it out!), and I did this one for her, with the top three I could think of, at that instant – but since I find it very difficult to pick the music I love best, here is an all new list of five songs/ music pieces that bring back memories, … Continue reading “Day 27# Food For The Soul”

Day 18# Memories of Old

Today is about a story from my childhood.  Lets begin with saying that being a single child, most of my stories were around me and my parents. Nothing more. Sometimes, less. But what I want to share today is not really a story, has another character – and a setting that very few I know have had the privilege of growing up in.  The place I remember living in, from … Continue reading “Day 18# Memories of Old”

The American Sojourn!

So it has been a week that I returned from the States and I’m not even close to wearing off the jet lag. Now that I’m actually feeling more like myself, an account is necessary. So where shall I start… Reetika, Richa and I know each other from the time that we went to college at SCMS-UG – around the time that the iPod classic first generation was in vogue. Through … Continue reading “The American Sojourn!”

The Withdrawn Mathematician

Muscat, for me is so packed with memories that there is probably no such place that I can go to without being reminded that this is the place where I grew up.  Just this morning, on my way to work I spotted a man who looked like someone I knew. Identifying an uncanny resemblance, I twisted in my seat to get a better look as the car whooshed past. Hoping … Continue reading “The Withdrawn Mathematician”

Time Freeze

It’s been five months but it feels like I was never gone. The same streets. Broken in the way I had seen them last. The same turquoise walls of House Number 2683. The Delhi winters that I came to fall in love with. After a really beautiful wedding creating an overwhelming number of memories, my mind is in a freeze.

Lumos!

“I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness for it shows me the stars.” – Og Mandino Diwali. The festival of lights. Probably the only one I could actually celebrate over my childhood. Although I must agree that it all seemed to be more fun when I was younger, Diwali is, and always will be special.  Because there is something hopeful … Continue reading “Lumos!”

The Lonely VCR

Remember video cassettes? Before floppy drives, CDs, DVDs and external hard drives, those little black boxes contained people’s entire worlds. Mine as well. As I disposed of over 50 of them a few days ago, I was fondly reminded of how important they used to be to me.  TV recordings of Disney Hour, numerous animated movies – from Cinderalla to Chip ‘N’ Dale to the Asterix series, taping of documentaries … Continue reading “The Lonely VCR”

New Innings

So I finally did make the move. After a very crazy August, where I spent a lot of time in airports and questioned myself repeatedly about the decision that I had taken – I find myself in a new place, surrounded by new people in an absolutely new environment altogether. The comfort zone is a really prized concept. I don’t know how people do this frequently. This wrapping up one life and starting … Continue reading “New Innings”

Tuesdays at Morrison

Who goes drinking on Tuesday nights? Four girls. Cafe Morrison. Drama. Many laughs. “V”. Long Island Ice Teas. An unending slice of chocolate cake.  Waay to many Cosmopolitans attributable to Ladies Night. John Mayer singles. Spicy potato sliders. Bhardwaj, Shukla and their tall drinks! Yes, thats an iPhone! With a lavender cover! Thank you for letting me hold it, Milan ♥ There was minimum talk about work. I havent laughed this … Continue reading “Tuesdays at Morrison”
