I can still remember Rashi from the graduation days – when I did not know her, she seemed to be an introvert, quiet, with a pleasing personality. In second year, destiny brought us together in a beautiful apartment in Viman Nagar as room mates. The rest has been history.
She was my sister-in-arms, friend and comic relief for two whole years. We have innumerable memories, photographs and moments that I treasure. Soon, Mimi and Ambika came along as our juniors and E-8 Konark Campus became a home. There were clandestine birthday plans, evening tea parties, movie screenings, head-massage sessions, group study, random photo days and drink nights! You can hardly make friends like that later in life – I’ve been very lucky.
I grew extremely close to her and those were indeed a few of the best days of my life. Moving to Delhi has agreed with that and although not very often, we did meet.
Rashi got married this weekend, the first among the four of us and I’ve hardly been this happy. Mimi and Ambika flew down and we had a reunion of sorts – after five long years. We had all grown up a little more but it really didn’t feel like much had changed. We were in E 7/20 Vasant Vihar beginning Friday night, through the sagan, mehndi, chuda – haldi, the wedding and bidaai which ended at half past four Monday morning.
Everything was perfect.
She looked like a princess, the weather gods put on a spectacular performance with April showers and I clicked away to glory with my new lens!

As we sat together resting our aching feel, with the rain pouring down quietly and the shamiana lights glimmering away, the feeling was serene. She is a jewel and deserves every happiness in the world. All my prayers and good wishes.
