Out of the hundreds of songs that we hear over the course of our days, some we groove to, others we add to the ‘Favourites’; some we forget about, others which stay with us; some remind us of a person or a memory, others which are genuinely random.
Once, in a while – there is that one song – one voice – one line – that just leave you stunned.
I watched a pirated copy of Barfi! at home last night and Arijit Singh’s ‘Phir Le Aaya Dil’ is one of those songs.
Maybe it is the mystery in the Urdu lyrics, the harmonium playing softly in the background, the context it was used in the movie or the baritone with just the right ‘harkat’.
I cannot put my finger on the why, but this is one that is never leaving my favourites list. Sigh.
Kismat ko hai ye manzoor kya kije
Milte rahe hum badastoor kya kije
Dil keh raha hai –
Wo jo ruki si raah baaki hai
Wo jo ruki si chaah baaki hai
Chor, chor!! Pirate, pirate!!
Kya karein. Sultanate me theatre jana ek task hai!
how true! this surely is one of those songs.
True. She's done a very good job. The song is just beautiful. No words can be enough to describe.
