Eddard Stark and the monster novel. Edited with VSCOcam |
‘A Dance with Dragons’ is the fifth of seven planned novels in the epic fantasy series – A Song of Ice and Fire by American author George R. R. Martin and the last one to be published till date. Just in case there is any inkling of doubt, we’re talking about the story that is now massively popular as ‘Game of Thrones.’
Since I know that some people who read this blog are ardent fans of the series, I will spare them the spoilers and keep mum about the actually story. But what I will say is – if the world was shocked by the ‘RedWedding’, they’re certainly going to need shrinks to deal with what comes afterwards.
Stepping into Martin’s magical, medieval world – much has changed. The number of named characters has risen into the hundreds; the plots have become even more twisted and convoluted; just when you think you’ve recovered from a shocker – wham, you’re rammed by another shattering one.
Welcome to Westeros.
You know that feeling that you’re so entangled in the story of one book, you feel you’re not ready to move to another one? I’m victim to just that. I haven’t been able to start reading anything else in the hope that book 6 – ‘The Winds of Winter’ may be announced in 2013, or maybe 2014. Who knows.
