No matter what the world thinks, to me Kolkata will always be one of the most beautiful and soulful places on the planet – maybe this connection has got to do something with being born on the soil.
Parents’ annual India trip gave me the opportunity to visit early this year for a family reunion of sorts.
# Had the most dramatic airport pick up in my life, yet!
# Spent a lot of time at home, chatted endlessly with Tham, Baba and Ma.
# Ate a lot! God bless mothers. Overdosed on mishti doi and other desserts.
# Contributed significantly to Monginis’ February sales target!
# Did a little Calcutta sightseeing – Birla Planetarium (Including the astronomy show narrated in Hindi), Victoria Memorial by night (Including the son et lumière show in Bengali), Puchka eating and travelling by wooden buses and cycle rickshaws! Not to forget the Kolkata Book Festival which was such a delight!
# Spent quality time with Dennis while Mashi unravelled her new saree stock
# Was gifted the 6th generation iPod Classic! *Dances*
# Woke up by 10 am almost everyday to ensure that precious holiday time wasn’t spent sleeping!
# Donned ‘yellow’ for Saraswati Pujo along with the baby neices and was overwhelmed by the compliments that came my way!
# Sat in the verandah and soaked in the winter sun for hours while listening to Baba’s exclusive playlists
# Bought a spanking new pair of semi-heels! Dang!
For one whole week, it seemed as though life was absolutely perfect 🙂
